Joining NCCC

If you wish to join NCCC, you must  fill out an application for membership, which will be read and voted upon at the next monthly meeting.  (PDF application form)

To join, you must reside within club territory which is defined as the maximum of:

  • Northern California, anything north of the Tehachapi's up to the Oregon border, and
  • A part of north-western Nevada (anything within our ARRL 175-mile radius circle centered at 10 miles North of Auburn on Highway 49).
NCCC club scores in contests:
  • Members are eligible to contribute to the club score in contests.
  • For ARRL contests (only), only members who are inside the 175-mile radius circle are eligible to contribute their scores to the NCCC club score.

To determine whether you are in this circle take the center latitude/longitude of N39.07° & W121.10°, plus your own and go to one of the following sites to calculate the distance your station is from the club center.

Dues

Membership dues are voluntary.  For Full Members wishing to financially support the club, $24 or more per year, payable in July, is recommended.  $24 per year entitles members to receive plaques and other club awards as these are the primary club expenses.

Family members and full-time students are eligible for dues at half the recommended rate, or $12.  (One member of the family pay recommended full dues of at least $24, enabling the rest of the family to join as family members.)  Associate Members are also recommended to pay dues at the $12 per year rate.

Dues can be paid by filling out this form and mailing it with a check made out to "NCCC"  to the Secretary/Treasurer whose address is on the bottom of the form.

Additional Options

Dues can also be paid via PayPal.  We have a Premier PayPal account, which allows anyone to pay for dues, donations, meeting dinners, CQP T-shirts & plaques, etc. using any of the following sources:

  1. Current PayPal Balance from your account
  2. Credit Card
  3. Debit Card
  4. Instant transfer from your bank account
  5. eCheck from your bank account
If you don't have a PayPal account, you can still make PayPal payments funded by a credit card as follows:
  1. Go to the PayPal web site.
  2. Click the 'Send Money' tab.
  3. Fill in the form and follow the instructions through a couple of web pages.  You will be asked to select a password and a PayPal account is set up for you to use in the future for credit card funded payments with that email address and credit card number.

  4. You will receive two emails from PayPal.

    1. A confirmation of this transaction, and

    2. An invitation to log on and confirm your email address to "complete your account".  This is not necessary unless you want to open a PayPal account.

To open a PayPal account go to www.paypal.com and sign up.  (Or, if you have previously made a credit card payment as described above, PayPal will recognize that email address and walk you through the steps to complete that account you initialized with the first credit card payment.)  There may be a 2-3 day delay while your bank account information is verified.  Once set up, PayPal is very convenient and very fast.  Widely used as a free online electronic bank, PayPal is useful for buying and selling ham gear on eBay as well. Just choose a good cryptic password, and your money will be safe.

If you have a PayPal account, just follow the instructions below to make a payment to NCCC:

  1. Sign on to your PayPal account at www.paypal.com

  2. Click the "Send Money" tab.

  3. Enter recipient: To: paypal@nccc.cc

  4. Enter the Amount

  5. Currency: Select: "USD - U.S. Dollars" from the drop-down menu

  6. Category of Purchase: For - Service/Other

  7. Click "Continue"

  8. Under Payment Method: choose your method of payment (use "More Funding Options" if necessary)

  9. Shipping Address: should say "No Shipping Required"

  10. Message to Recipient: Subject: indicate purpose of payment (e.g., "Annual Dues" or "Donation", etc.)

  11. Message to Recipient: Message: indicate your Name, Callsign, and any changes to your personal information (address, phone numbers, email, etc.).

  12. Click the "Send Money" button.
